I searched the forums, but could not find the info I need....
I recently purchased a site (on 3/17) and am able to login using the Ensim (sp?) site administrator. Created a generic html page, and....
(1) where do I put the files? I tried putting it in the root dir as well as /var/www/html dir but cannot load in IE.
(2) what would the URL be? I'm assuming it's www.domainname.com/index.html?
Thanks,
Paul
hello paul

Thanks for the quick reply Nick. Domain is pweegs.com
hello paul
it doesnt appear your domain has registered.
when did you register the domain?
hosting services and domain registration are two different payments
just for future reference...all web material should go in
mainwebsite_html which is a symlink to /var/www/html
so either directory will work
and your address will be
http://pweegs.com

I'm not sure if I did this properly or not. I registered domain weegs.com elsewhere in hopes to point to the hosted site pweegs.com, but not sure if I did this right or not. I pointed the nameservers to HostPC's information, but not sure if it's a settings issue or something else.
I just checked with one of the WHOIS lookups http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/wh...hois?pweegs.com (http://www.networksolutions.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois?pweegs.com) and it seems pweegs.com isn't registered anyplace. When did you register, and who did you register it with?
hello paul
it appears pweegs.com was never registered
however....weegs.com is registered and pointing to hostpc servers
what we can do is you can registered pweegs.com through us or who you have weegs.com through and then we can alias weegs.com to your pweegs.com account. that way..whether they type pweegs.com or weegs.com...they get your website

Thanks for dealing with my ineptness and the quick responses guys. :D
When I spoke to my friend about this, I told him I wanted to start my own website. So he said just register your name first, and when you find a place to host it, use a another domain so nothing gets confused.
I then registered my (weegs.com) domain first, and then you guys had this awesome deal I saw on anandtech, and I used a different domain because I thought something might get confused between the host and whatever. Thus, the confusion.
Nick, if you could alias my account, that would be awesome! I'm just curious how that would affect emailing. As if to say, after you alias the domain and I create an email user as pdubs@pweegs.com, what would happen if someone would send email to pdubs@weegs.com?
Thanks again, I appreciate the learning experience. :)
hello paul
ok...this is what you need to do
go register pweegs.com and point it to hostpc
NS2A.PRIVATELABELDNS.COM
NS2B.PRIVATELABELDNS.COM
i will set up the alias...so weegs.com will point to pweegs.com
your mail at weegs.com will go to the catch-all for pweegs.com...which right now is admin@pweegs.com
hello paul
let me suggest this too
you could just keep weegs.com and pay a small fee to change the hosted domain from pweegs.com to weegs.com
then you wouldnt have to register pweegs.com and your site would be up as soon as i make the changes...just depends on what domain you want
if you want to do that....refer here
https://hostpc.com/extras.html
Domain Name Change $10.00:(one time fee)

Nick, it sounds like doing the Domain Name Change from pweegs.com to the desired weegs.com would make life easier for everyone. All I have to do is use that link, pweegs.com will turn into weegs.com, and then my site will then be fully ready to go?
hello paul
im just throwing things out that you can do...we can do whatever you want to do...just trying to get you up and running asap
yes..to do the domain name change refer here
https://hostpc.com/extras.html
go down to the
Domain Name Change $10.00:(one time fee)
fill out the info..pay the fee and we will get you going
it appears that weegs.com is already pointing to our servers...so your domain should be up as soon as the change is made
