We've been in touch with DirectAdmin concerning the speed of IMAP connections lately, as it seems to be getting worse, and more people are mentioning a bit of frustration.

it seems that the speed issue is due to the version of IMAP being used (UW) instead of Courier-IMAP.

DA's working on a roll out for Courier-IMAP (which will bring a speed increase) - but they're running into issues on converting existing accounts.

They are aware of this issue, and are working on it - until they replace it, our hands are basically tied, but I do hear your frustrations - all I can ask is that you have patience while they implement and test a new system.

Thanks

Joe

Has there been any movement on an updated IMAP server? It's been 6 months now, and the delays on each connection are getting very tiresome.

Me too .. I've been wondering about this myself. IMAP is very slow.

I just received today what I would call an "alpha" version (author calls it beta) of the Courier-IMAP solution...

It's gonna take me a few days (ie. weekend) to install, test and make sure everything's cool with it before I attempt it on a live server.

Here's a bump for any updates, plus I was wondering if whatever "IMAP issues" could be causing other errors in 3rd party webmail programs? I have an Ilohamail installtion that recently seems to behaving very buggy - connection timeouts, pages failing to load, etc. It's connecting via IMAP, too. Iits beginning to cause some frustration for my users! Thanks!
