When I select an item and then click on delete, I still see the item in my inbox... anybody experience anything similar ?

Yes, the same thing is happening to me as well.
I move the email to the "Trash" and I still see it in "Inbox", and there is a copy in "Trash".
I try "empty trash" and it all stays.

Joe, any ideas?

I'm not able to duplicate that issue here - I just tried. Clicked on the message, read it, at the top was a "delete" option - clicked it, sent it to trash.

Clicked on the trash folder - selected it with a checkmark, then clicked delete....

Went away, just like it should have.

From the "Help Option"

3.2 - Delete
Click this link to delete the message being currently viewed. All attachments of deleted mail are deleted as well. You can prevent the loss of attachments by Downloading them first (explained further in this chapter).
In this context, deleting means that the message will be moved to the folder called Trash. If you wish to keep the message afterall, view the Trash folder and move the message out.

I just tried and can't connect via pop nor imap. When I try to connect via pop, Outlook Express tells me that "Can't get lock, mailbox in use." Via imap, I'm simply given a generic, "didn't work, buddy" message.

Just to be clear, I am not even able to get my email via pop nor smtp, bypassing squirrelmail alltogether.

Open a support desk ticket - include the username and password you are trying to use, mail client, errors you get via pop3, etc... we'll be better able to figure this out when you can provide more details.

Thanks
