I just tried to configure eruby on a domain by just copying the eruby.cgi to the cgi-bin and then adding a htaccess file to point to it. This did not work. Maybe I a m missing something about how HostPC does its Ruby set up or maybe eruby is not even installed.

So I would like to suggest adding info on how to set up eruby if it is possible to do so now. If it is not possible becuase the servers do no support it I would like to suggest that HostPC make accomadations for the use of eruby on it servers.

Thanks for listening.

No response to this?

I am writing an article on eRuby and it would be nice to mention HostPC as having support.

Still no reponse to this? I though it wuld not be a very hard thing to do since it does not involve much configuration only a simple install.

Q: Is installing Eruby via Jailed shell allowed?

So, you put the eruby executable into your cgi-bin, and added the Type directives and mappings to your .htaccess file or your DA install and still no luck? That sounds strange. Point me to your eruby executable and I'll try it.

I am not sure how you are going to test it but it is at

http://www.hivemindz.org/cgi-bin/eruby.cgi

A simple test file is at http://www.hivemindz.org/test.rhtml

Thanks.

Can you point me to a downloadable eruby.cgi?

Thanks for the file. Unfortunately, it won't work as it references a shared object library. I found another one with the lib compiled in. It is taking a bit of debugging to hunt out the problem. Will try and keep you posted.

Thanks for looking into this, I appreciate it.

Could I possibly get a copy of the file that you are using?

Unfortunately, I was mistaken. I still have lib issues. Argh!

Have you had any luck in this?

Anything yet? Should I put in a support ticket and see what happens? I plan on writing more beginner's tutorials and it would be nice to be able to recommend Hostpc as it seems to be more stable than most of the other budget hosting environments.

I would also like to put up a real site on my account but I would be using eRuby.

Sorry, I haven't been able to work with this lately. I need ssh access to be able to test it out. My sincerest apologies for the tardiness of my reply.

No worries, We all get busy.

So I should break down and get ssh access to test this myself. It would be nice though if it worked out of the box without having ssh or having to do the copying yourself. I think Hostpc would get a few new accounts because of this. At least according to the interest shown in eRuby articles at my site.
