I am considering signing up for your "back to school" special which ends today.

I will be using this account primarily for email/webmail.

1) What are the server specs I will be placed on and which datacenter is it at?

2) How reliable has your email/webmail been in the past? I usually prefer to keep my webmail on your servers instead of downloading it to my email client.

3) Do you offer IMAP?

4) Are you incorporated, LLC, etc.?

5) What exactly is your relationship with Dixiesys, I think I've read on another forum that you're his son? If that's true, other than that how are HostPC and Dixiesys associated?

6) Will ClientExec (requires ionCUBE) run on your servers?

7) Do you offer SSH access? Will you offer it after switching to DirectAdmin?

8) If I sign up today, when will my account be converted to DirectAdmin?

9) Do you have a link to your uptime stats (Alerta)?

10) If I were to submit a support ticket asking for basic assistance on how to install a php script (such as http://ww.v-webmail.org) asking how to do wget, how to untar and configure the php is this something you would gladly help out with or outside your scope of support?

Thanks in advance!

1) All servers are a minimum of P3 1GHz, 60GB hard drives, 1GB RAM. Currently this server is a P4, located in the Rackshack datacenter.

2) Mail reliability. I think it's damn good. We go to the extremes to provide stability and make sure every client has user accessible backups available for daily download - each backup file contains mail folders. With that said, I will also say that at ANY time, ANY provider can suffer an outage. Personally I don't think it's wise to leave valuable e-mails on the providers server - if they go down for any reason, all your mail is lost.

3) Yes, IMAP services are available on all servers, see #2.

4) We operate under a sole proprietorship in Schenectady County, New York, and are filed with the County Clerks Office.

5) Gary's son?? hahahh - No. We maintain a support relationship with Dixiesys, and use some of their extra service scripts. We are seperate companies, seperate owners - no familial relationship at all. If we have server issues that we can't support or Rackshack doesn't support, Mike and Gary are TOPS in server management and issue resolution. I think it's wise for ANY company to have a backup support team.

6) Client Exec? Yes, we're in the process of abandoning it. We've used it - it's severely lacking in many areas, including reporting, recurring billing, paypal integration, etc. It runs, it is currently running for hostpc. It wont be by this weekend.

7) SSH access is available as an add-on to regular hosting accounts for a $10 setup fee.

8) When we offer DirectAdmin, it will be clients choice to transfer or not - we won't convert clients accounts, we'll continue to maintain Ensim servers for the forseeable future.

9) No, we don't utilize Alertra monitoring on any server. Ask our clients - read our forums. Check Webhostingtalk.com - there have been VERY VERY few complaints regarding our service. We had one server crash 2 weeks ago, it was fully restored, data replaced, and back online inside of 12 hours.

10) We offer script configuration services, for an additional fee. Standard support questions not specific to any application are provided without question at no charge. I don't think I've ever had to tell anyone "We dont support that" or "Thats beyond the scope of the helpdesk". In fact, I can remember several instances where we've gone above and beyond to help customers install applications, etc.

Hope that helps. I'm still chuckling about #5 :) Gary's gonna love that one.

Thank you that answers all of my questions.

After you begin offering DirectAdmin, if an existing Ensim client wishes to convert you will take care of that, right?

Don't ask why I thought you were Gary's son, but I'm glad that you cleared that up.

Now to decide on a domain and register it.
