Clients on www29 have been moved to a new webserver in the Fort Lauderdale datacenter, with fresh data from this morning.

All clients need to update their DNS immediately to the new server. Details were sent to the email address on file for your account.

ns94a.hostpc.com
ns94b.hostpc.com

If you did not receive the email from us this morning, the address in your control panel is wrong and needs to be updated. Please login to the new server and be sure your address is up to date at all times.

Thank you.

Joe...

Beside changing the DNS in the control panel, what about the TXT field?

Mine currently says this with the old IP:

"v=spf1 a mx ip4:199.237.54.174 ?all"

=================

I did change the DNS to ns94a.hostpc.com and ns94b.hostpc.com ... but the site mrconsumer.com still does not come up (I get your error message to change DNS settings). How long should this take?

My email is also unobtainable.

Ideas?

Thanks,

EDgar

I've fixed the bug that didn't transfer the SPF records... I'll report that to DA, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

As for your domain, it's resolving fine from here.

Did you guys send out a notice earlier that the server was being changed? I did not get anything. Sure would be good to know this before it actually happens...

>>As for your domain, it's resolving fine from here.>>

Joe,

Thanks for making the TXT fix.

My domains, mrconsumer.com and consumerfund.org still resolve to your "change your DNS" page for me, and email is not obtainable:

"This account is temporarily unavailable pending the site owners action.
Your nameservers must be updated to:
ns94a.hostpc.com
ns94b.hostpc.com
You can do this where you registered your domain name.

Ideas?

Thanks,

Edgar

I received no advance notice of this either, I just woke up this morning to a disabled domain. If this was an emergency situation, kudos on getting it done this quickly. If this was a planned move and you never told anyone in advance...WTF ARE YOU THINKING? That's completely inexcusable.

I was planning on doing some website and email maintenance today, and you killed my business for 24 hours while the new nameservers propogate. I can't for a second believe you would be so negligent as to move a server and change the nameservers without any advance notice of downtime. Explain please?

You're correct, we didn't send much advanced notice - and for that I apologize. The main factors were:

1. DNS propogation with nearly every registrar takes 10-15 minutes, 1hr on the outside for some at GoDaddy, MUCH less than the 24-72 hours it used to take.

2. By doing a backup and immediately suspending the sites, we insured data was the freshest possible for the move. This helps forums remain "in sync" etc.

3. Ailing hard drive. I was logged into the server late last night and early this morning, there's several instances of "bad blocks" on the drive. I ran a simplifed FSCK overnight which reported hard drive failure was "coming" - but it didn't indicate how long before failure. (SMART drive reports)

This server was scheduled to be moved when we went to FL on the 19th - and has been online for nearly 3yrs with the same drive array. We've wanted to remove servers older than 2yrs from service (www26 and www28 - along with several reseller servers) with proper shutdown notices, etc. Rather than firefighting later, it was a proactive attempt to avoid a costly issue that could have been much worse.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you may have endured, but aside from local cache - every ISP should have been back up and reporting the new server within an hour of DNS change. (We even changed the ones registered through us at Enom automatically).

Feel free to chastise - I would have liked to have given more notice, and for that I'm sorry.

Joe

I appreciate the honest answer, and yes - propogation is going quickly. Thanks for the explanation, just see if we can get some advance notice in the future. Cool?

Absolutely when possible... but this shouldnt happen again till 2009 or 2010 :)

Noted for the future

My domain has now propogated, but I can't login to email using Outlook, Squirrelmail, or Uebmau. Legitimate logins get rejected now. Anyone else seeing this? I've entered a Helpdesk ticket for my domain, but wondering if anyone else is getting this.

That's not related to www29 at all.

I changed my nameservers with godaddy for my domains, after prop. I have no Wordpress database connections, all gone!! No DB's !!

Strange Im getting slow response from helpdesk (no reply for a day)!
Its on hold status which I think is terrible, considering I was given ZERO warning of the change AND my loss in adsense income from my sites!
When am I going to get some help with this situation?

For info my main domain is join2sell.com

The wordpress blogs are addon domains -
laser-hair-removal-com.com (http://www.laser-hair-removal-com.com)
alcohol-drug-rehab.info/rehab (http://www.alcohol-drug-rehab.info/rehab)

MySQL is running fine - have you checked the MySQL part of your DA control panel to make sure the settings in there are present and correct?

Surely, before nameservers were changed, backups of DB's were made and transfered?
All I see in mysql management is a "test" DB.
How can I check mysql settings and see if they are correct? Isnt this the job of support, considering I never touched my settings, although they were moved and reinstalled on another server without giving me any notice to backup anything.
I find it VERY disheartening that support have not even answered my ticket with any help.
If I had been given notice (I am in UK remember) I could have made some kind of uptodate backup.
What REALLY worries me is what if I had 200 blogs creating me an income and this was to happen?
Still no reply to my ticket.

Add the database, with the same username/password/user into your control panel ... just add, dont do anything else - but be sure the info is the same as it was on the old server.

I'll look into your ticket issue

It looks like the SpamBlocker is not enabled for my account on this server. Joe can you confirm?

You'll get faster service if you'd open a helpdesk ticket. They'll need to know your domain(s), too...
