Due to an upgrade issue we performed last night, www26 went offline unexpectedly. This is due to an upgrade that was not compatible with the operating system version on that server.
The same issue is affecting www28 - they were identical servers. Therefore, we need to do a bulk move of clients from www28 this evening.
At 11pm we'll begin backing up user data and moving it to a new DA server in the Ft. Lauderdale datacenter. This was NOT unexpected, we had anticipated shutting this server down by 1/31 anyway.
We'll move all client data - YOU will need to update your DNS when we're done.
An email is being sent to all clients on the server. Be sure your email address is current in your DirectAdmin control panel

We've been forced to cancel the move tonight - we'll attempt it again in the morning.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Will this be transpiring today, or on Jan 31st as posted in another thread? If so, what are the new dns servers?
thanx

All users on this server (www28) have been restored to www98.
You should be updating your DNS to
ns98a.hostpc.com
ns98b.hostpc.com
If there are any problems, please let us know through the helpdesk.

Help - my account has been suspended, I was on www28!
You simply need to change your DNS records to the new server, as your website shows

Some FAQ's:
We did indeed email everyone on this server, at least twice, concerning this move.
We did post in our forums several times the impending shutdown of this server
If you did not receive our emails concerning this, you need to be sure the address in your directadmin control panel is correct
If you did receive the emails and ignored them, well...
All data was moved to the new server
Clients of HostPC that registered their domain name with us were updated automatically
For customers of GoDaddy, Namecheap, Yahoo, 1&1, Dixiesys, etc - DNS needs to be changed where you registered the domain.
The server you've been moved to is in the NEW datacenter, and features the latest software versions, and the newest hardware.
The old server (www28) will be retired within 48 hours. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us through the helpdesk.
Thank you.

The databases are down on 2 of my sites so the sites are effectively out of action. I have posted a ticket but I'm posting here as well in case it's related to the above and other people are experiencingg similar problems.
They were on www32 before the move last week

If you were on www32, you're not part of this www28 server issue.
Nothing has changed on www32 except the server IP address.

My databases are down as well this morning (also on 32).
Here's the error...
"Error connecting to MySQL: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"
I know this has nothing to do with 28, but just replying to the above post.

Hi Jfree
Thanks for the info - my sites came back up on Sunday too
However both mys sites that were on 32 are playing up again today - either no database access or extremely sluggish by comparison with my sites on other boxes and oither hosts.
Must say this is getting very frustrating and I'm getting a lot of flak from users.
I'm posting here as well as HelpDesk as my guess is I'm not the only one having the problem again and hope it can be sorted

How about we move your sites to one of the newer, less crowded servers?
The helpdesk staff will help you with this.

For the record, I had an issue very similar to this a couple weeks ago on www51 - and had a help desk ticket. There was never any real reason uncovered. It basically fixed itself.
I say this just to point out that it looks from the outside like there has got to be something systemically wrong somewhere, whether it's within HostPC or somewhere close to its connection to the outside world. And it's not just something from the last few days - though obviously the incidents could be entirely unrelated. Just another piece of info for the help desk to use.
