First off let me say that I have used hostpc for my hosting for the past 2 years. Everything went great untill a little bit ago.

I always paid for my hosting a year in advance, but a month or two ago my hosting ran out. I got no notice that it was near time to renew, nothing to indicate that my hosting had run out and that I would need to pay again for the next years worth of hosting. However I can accept responsiblity for that, I should have kept up with it.

The thing that really got to me was when I did attempt to pay up for the current year, I found that apparently my account had been completely deleted. But the worse thing was that after about 7-8 emails to support explaining all this and trying to get everything back up, I never got a response.

Edit* I also just wanted to add that I do plan signing up again with hostpc, I was kinda hoping that my previous account could be saved (i.e. website content, etc. ) even though I feel its too late.

Is your email address on file current? If it was Yahoo, it likely wasn't received because of Yahoos crappy email policies. Many people report renewal notices go to spam folders at Gmail - thats why we have a thread about whitelisting HostPC and how to do it.

7-8 emails with no response? Did you try the helpdesk or live chat? If I got 7 or 8 emails, they would have been responded to.

As for content deletion, I can't address that here - dont know what your domain / account was, but in some cases I've got backups that span over a year - and most backups are retained at LEAST 90 days after account deletion.

Open a helpdesk ticket, address it to me, I'll look into it further concerning the backups.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess as to your domain. If it's the one I think it is (same username as your post here) - your account expired 3/24/07. This is the first I've heard of it.

And in fact, I DO have backups of your data - and checked the helpdesk and couldn't find a request in there concerning it

Backups dated:
Apr 14 13:45
May 17 01:02

I dont mind taking criticism if we really did something wrong - I take it, learn from it and move on, but in this case, I think we not only did most everything right (including maintaining backups for >3 months after account closure) - but also dont have any record of contact from you explaining the problem until a public post more than two months after the acct was cancelled. :(

My email address is a gmail address. I have hostpc as an approved sender and have always gotten everything that has been sent to me.

I want to open a help desk support ticket but for some reason it's saying my login is invalid. Everything should be the same as I never changed anything.

That was one of the things I addressed in my emails, however when I got no response back I kinda of just forgot about it for a while. Maybe the emails I sent got blocked as spam/junk mail who knows. I still have a copy of one of the emails I sent on April 10th, which is about when I first noticed that my hosting had lapsed.

I accept the fact that I should have payed attention to when my payment was due, and not relied on a email notice. The only thing that has me confused is why none of my logins worked except this one. I'm creating a new account right now.

You may need to create a new account at the help desk since they switched to a new help desk in the recent past.

Well this looks to be completely taken care of. I registered a new account and signed up for a new plan. Looks like this bad experience turned into a great one.

Thank-you, and glad to be a customer again. :)

I'm glad it worked out for you. Joe does a good job of making things right.
