I've got mail lists set up and the entries are in the format:
Firstname Lastname [address@domain.tld] The real entry I'm trying uses greater-than/less-than symbols instead of the brackets, but the message composition software here won't let me type them.
I did that so I can recognize the people on the list. When I try to add a new name to the list in that format I get 'That E-Mail Address Contains invalid characters'
This is the first name I've tried to add since moving to the 301 server. Is there some different format I can use to keep the real name in the address line?

Do you put quote marks around the "Firstname Lastname"?

Thanks for the suggestion Tony. I didn't use quotes.
I went back now and tried several different formats with single and double quotes around the Firstname Lastname, and got the invalid character error with each one.
I also tried different combinations of the format of the actual mail address with no success.
Sheez! Am I going to have to go and read the instructions?

If ALL else fails, then read the instructions. If it still doesn't work, then consider following them. :D
(At least the is the adage that I try to live by)

I'll try avoiding starting a new thread.
I haven't found any instructions for Majordomo that explains the format for list member entries.
I'm thinking the problem is on the DirectAdmin side not letting me enter a valid address format since I have many names in the FirstName LastName [address@domain.tld] format already.
Is there a way to edit the entries in a majordomo mail list directly without going through the DA interface, or is that kept at a high level on the servers?
Thanks
Try asking for help on the DirectAdmin forum:

A few years ago I had a question about email format and was told on the DA forum that the format you're using should work. If I recall correctly, all standard email formats should work on DA's majordomo mailing list.
