View Full Version : FTP works with MSIE now, Thanks DA!
I could never do this with the old servers but this works fine with DirectAdmin!
I can now FTP with MS Internet Explorer and get to my proper directory. With the old servers I would always end up in a user account, I could never get to the root html directories.
Finally :D
Really? Yeah, that is cool.
Joe
Cool, it does work :)
Never noticed that.
One more thing I gotta love about DirectAdmin!
I can now connect with WebDAV protocol! :D
This means in winXP I can create a 'network place' with a target on my DirectAdmin server and it works! NO kidding!
For those who are wondering, the WebDAV protocol is supposed to be more secure than an FTP login. I could be wrong on this, but that's what I'm told.
Thanks again Joe I know this was one of those things you were trying to figure out for me, I guess you finally did! ;)
one funny thing about this WebDAV (network places) login.
It works well with our admin accounts, but does not work for other FTP accounts which we create via DirectAdmin for some reason.
Hmmmm... I wonder why?
Oh well, at least it partially works!

WebDAV and FTP are very different.
The built-in "admin" account has a WebDAV "entry" and FTP, whereas all other created FTP accounts are simply FTP accounts.

Where can I learn more about WebDAV? This sounds quite interesting!

How exactly do you do this, in particular, what path do you give Windows in the Create New Network Place wizard to get to your public_html directory?
Thanks,
Max
