According to this BBC News article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/3359311.stm), residents in one Johannesburg, South Africa neighborhood have some unique ways to ring in the new year. Folks in that neighborhood "have taken to seeing in the New Year by throwing objects such as fridges, microwave ovens, beds, rubbish bins and condoms out of their windows. Some also aim their New Year fireworks horizontally, so they go from one high-rise apartment into another."
I have crossed Johannesburg off of the list of places I might visit for future New Year's Eve celebrations!
Is that anything like the celebration in your neck of the woods, Joe? ;)
