I host musicians' websites .. and most require a Gig List.. concert calendar...

Some I hand code, some I use Server.com's calendar app........ I like it, but it uses advertisements unless you want to pay them.. being a low budget operation, I can't afford that.. just wonder if anybody has a favorite free script that they use..

here's one I am considering: Gig Lister (http://www.gmtt.co.uk/index.php?option=com_downloads&Itemid=51&func=fileinfo&parent=category&filecatid=5)

I am working on my own events calendar at the moment http://scripts.dbmasters.net/calendar.php?n=61&id=61 which seems to be working well, and one musician I do work for has one at http://www.mootdavis.com ...I know of a couple musicians that plan to use my new one when released.

They really are not very hard to build if you know any PHP, the hardest part is just learning to deal with dates and times in the way that MySQL understands.

Is the site using some kind of Content Management System (CMS)? If so, then you should look for something that ties into it. If not, then why not use Dan's?

Most clients like the option of adding gigs themselves.... and for the dates to be shown in a format similar to that of server.com's (all on one page)

I may have to try to learn php in order to get exactly what I want..
probably not a bad idea anyway :)

also, Dan has his own CMS... link (http://scripts.dbmasters.net) and knowing him (not that I do, but I like his scripts) this calendar is stand alone or compatible with his CMS.

edit:
I see that he's provided a sneak peek at v. 4. Oddly enough I just downloaded and performed a trial install of 3.1 yesterday. It's good, easy to set up, straight forward...

Thanks for the vote of confidence thevillageinn :) Yes, v4 is getting vewy, vewy cwose. The calendar is not a standalone app at the moment, but I am considering making it standalone...but then it would just be yet another script to maintain...so I dunno if I will or not. Most anything new and cool that I do I tend to work in to the CMS and leave it at that...

Gig Lister can be seen on http://www.householdnamerecords.co.uk this is the biggest context on which i have ever seen it used, though they modified it quite a bit.
