Unable To Access Phpmyadmin With Da User/pass

I was just attempting to access phpMyAdmin but continually received user/pass prompts when using the primary DA account. I was able to login using a mySQL sub-user, but have never had this happen before. I usually logged in with the DA info and could then administer any of my DBs from there.

is this a new 'feature' that I missed?

when did this start happening and what server?
im able to log as the admin (cp login) and using individual logins admin_dbname
not aware of any changes that would affect it

I'm on server 9, and unfortunately, I have no idea when this started happening on this server. I can still use this method to get into phpMyAdmin on www5 (where I have other sites)
