Like I said, my site is up and running on my old host. Yet when I try to enter in my site when Im transferring it, it says its available and I cant transfer it.
If it matters...
Service Expires: Jun 30, 2004
Domain Expiry : Jul 16, 2004
Maybe I just dont know how to transfer and Im making an obvious mistake. Please help if you can...
Also, just to double check, how much is it to renew a domain?
Are you trying to transfer the domain from your current registrar to HostPC? Or are you trying to transfer the site data from your current host to HostPC?
And if your current service expired on June 30th... I hope you have a backup of all your data, since former host has probably suspended/closed your account at the end of your contract.
Regarding a domain transfer (from your current registrar to HostPC), this may or may not work. Many registrars "lock" domains during the last 30 days before expiration. This means you may have to renew the domain with your current registrar and then transfer the domain later.
This doesnt mean that you cant use HostPC as your webhost. All that would be required to do this would be to update your domains DNS information to reflect the proper HostPC information.

Edit: Read next post first plz
I am trying to transfer the domain from my current registrar to HostPC. As for the data, I dont care for it. I have it on my desktop as well. ANd at the moment, they havent suspeneded/closed my account.
To renew my domain, its 25 bux (w/free hosting). But I need more space and bandwidth which is why hostpc is more ideal for me.
Instead of renewing with them, I was hoping I could transfer my domain to here, and qualify for the free two months. Is that possible?
Or i'll just let me domain expire, and get that domain again with Hostpc.com. I dont think there is a grace period.
Heres the main problem. With other hosting sites, they recognize that my domain still exists and to transfer it. With hostpc, my site doesnt exist and its available for me to register. I want to transfer it to take advantage of the two months free, and to pay only 8.65 or whatever to renew my domain.

Where do I transfer my domain? In FAQ section, theres this: https://www.registryrocket.com/default.asp?...PPQ98NYKXNQDYTC (https://www.registryrocket.com/default.asp?ec=URJYRKUAPPQ98NYKXNQDYTC) <--this recognizes my site to transfer
Once I pay to transfer my domain, how would I select my hosting plan with hostpc?
Just go from the main page, www.hostpc.com and select a hosting package... enter the domain name that you already have, and that'll take care of it.

Alright, i selected a plan. Where it says Target Domain, I enter my site (samp27.com). Then I pay for it? Is that all?
When I select the plan, I have the option to transfer. When I enter my site in on the transfer part, I get "samp27.com is already present as hosted item"
Which way do I go. Again, I apoligize if my I keep on obvious stupid questions. I jsut want to get it right the first time...
Thanks for your help guys.

Alright, again, sorry for all the newbie questions.
I clicked on transfer and it worked. Paid for the plan and paid $8.49.
That 8.49, is that the cost to transfer the domain? Does it restart my year, so I wont have to renew my domain for another year? Which one or both?
Also, what next? I entered the DNS info into where I registered my domain. Do I really have to since everything should be transferring to here. Not only am I hosting here, but I am also wanting to have host pc as my domain registrar. Is that what Im doing (is that what the 8.49 is for?)?
Sorry... im just confused.

Yes, when you transfer your domain to HostPC your payment will do both - transfer, *and* renew it for another year.
Also, what next? I entered the DNS info into where I registered my domain. Do I really have to since everything should be transferring to here. Not only am I hosting here, but I am also wanting to have host pc as my domain registrar. Is that what Im doing (is that what the 8.49 is for?)?
Yes, you have to enter the DNS info into the domain registrar, because while HostPC is who you are buying both services through, the two parts are separate (HostPC is simply re-selling the domain registry). Entering the DNS info at the registrar is what tells other computers on the internet which HostPC server your web hosting account is on, when they look up your domain. Yes, the $8.49 is for the domain registrar, the other fee is for the Web Hosting account.
Sorry... im just confused.
no need to apologize, we're all here to help when we can. :)

But wait, I entered the DNS info to my old register/hosting company. Is that what Im supposed to do in my situation?
I understand what your saying if I entered in the dns info into HostPC's settings, but if my domain is transferring to hostpc, I dont need to input the dns settings into my old registrant, correct?
Just trying to get the jist of things...
THanks for your help.

if you are transferring your domain to HostPC you will still need to input your DNS settings
